The process of hot stamping shiny film to accent graphical elements of a package.
A die is created with the image of the area to be foiled in the machine. The sheet and the film make contact as the die presses into the sheet. Heat adheres the shiny film to the paperboard. Foiling is often used on high-end packages such as cosmetic boxes and speciality products.
The film comes in metallic colors as well as solid pigments.
